INDEST is an incubation office operated by Tokyo Institute of Technology on its Tamachi campus (https://www.idp.ori.titech.ac.jp/indest/top/).
We are currently holding various events based on the concept of “nurturing university startups that change the world.”This time, as the first co-hosted event with YVP (Tokyo Tech Yokohama Venture Plaza),The theme is “Global market strategy:Brazilian Entrepreneurs ,Japanese academia, and smaller companies team up to take on the world challenge” .We will bring you a cross talk between Mr. BENTO MASSAHIKO KOIKE, CEO of EVERON Corporation, who is currently a resident of YVP, and Mr. Tomohiro Hayashi, Associate Professor, Tokyo Tech School of Materials Science and Engineering.
Mr. BENTO MASSAHIKO KOIKE is the founder of EVERON Co., Ltd., and the company’s CKO (Chief Knowledge Officer): Together with Professor Tomohiro Hayashi, associate professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology’s School of Materials Science and Engineering,He aims to develop graphene supercapacitors with high environmental friendliness and power storage performance, contributing to sustainable social development.
He also started Tecsis, a startup in Brazil that produced wind power blades, and grew it into a large international company with 7,500 employees.
(Tecsis’ growth strategy was also featured in Harvard Business Review as a case study)
Why did he choose to take on the new challenge of starting a business in Japan and teaming up with Professor Hayashi?
We will have a conversation with Tomohiro Hayashi about the mindset of an entrepreneur and the key points for Japanese startups to compete on the global stage.
I hope that the crosstalk between the two of you will be of use to you in the future.

Tomohiro HAYASHI Associate Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology
Tomohiro Hayashi completed his bachelor’s course at Waseda University in 1997. Then, he graduated master’s course at the University of Tsukuba in 2000. He received his Ph.D. from Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg in 2003. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Tokyo TECH and then as a permanent researcher at AIST in Tsukuba (2006).
